I've been tagged for a Meme

First of all, just to be extremely truthful with all of you out in blogland, I'm not really sure what a Meme is. In french, meme means "same" but I don't have a clue what it means in terms of being tagged.

Anywho... RSG tagged me so I am responding. Here's the dealio:

1. Pick up the nearest book.
2. Open to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Tag five people, and acknowledge who tagged you.

The book closest to me happened to be Dual Diagnosis: Counseling the Mentally Ill Substance Abuser by Katie Evans and J. Michael Sullivan.

DSM-IV defines three clusters of personality disorders, labeled A, B, and C. Individuals with Cluster B personality disorders appear dramatic, emotional and erratic.

OMG - did anyone else just self-diagnose with a Cluster B personality disorder?! hahahaha!

Umm, not sure who to tag since the two people I've actually met in person who have blogs have already done this. Guess I'll be a rebel and leave that part off!

In other news - my life is very busy and I am way too lazy to post much of anything on this blog. I may be taking a hiatus, I'm not sure yet - I'm too unmotivated to decide.

Keep it real folks!

My how time flies

This is what we have been up to over the last month or so during all that time I should have been blogging!
Yes - that is me with braces! In case anyone out there in cyberland is feeling sorry for themselves, just know that this summer I will be attending my 20 YEAR CLASS REUNION with braces on!! Maybe it will help me look younger than everyone else? Seriously, I'm trying to find something good about this!

My BFF is better than your BFF...

Yesterday, my BFF Holly dragged me to the mall under false pretenses in order to pick up these, which she had ordered for me:

Oh my God, I'm in heaven - these things are awesome! I can't believe I'm so excited to own a pair of Uggs. Holly has them in dark brown, and mine are in a caramel color - BEE-U-TI-FUL!!!

Aren't BFFs great?! If you don't have one, you really should get one - you have to get your own though, mine is taken. (Actually, I have two BFFs, isn't that smart of me?)

Looks like I'm a little bit COUNTRY and a little bit ROCK N' ROLL

What Stephanie Meagher Means
You are the total package - suave, sexy, smart, and strong. You have the whole world under your spell, and you can influence almost everyone you know. You don't always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don't have as much going for them as you do.

You are a seeker. You often find yourself restless - and you have a lot of questions about life. You tend to travel often, to fairly random locations. You're most comfortable when you're far away from home. You are quite passionate and easily tempted. Your impulses sometimes get you into trouble.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone. You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together. At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are influential and persuasive. You tend to have a lot of power over people.Generally, you use your powers for good. You excel at solving other people's problems.Occasionally, you do get a little selfish and persuade people to do things that are only in your interest.

You are truly an original person. You have amazing ideas, and the power to carry them out.Success comes rather easily for you... especially in business and academia. Some people find you to be selfish and a bit overbearing. You're a strong person. You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection. You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive. You have the classic "Type A" personality.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people. You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts. You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing. You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long. You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are confident, self assured, and capable. You are not easily intimidated. You master any and all skills easily. You don't have to work hard for what you want. You make your life out to be exactly how you want it. And you'll knock down anyone who gets in your way!

You are deeply philosophical and thoughtful. You tend to analyze every aspect of your life. You are intuitive, brilliant, and quite introverted. You value your time alone.Often times, you are grumpy with other people. You don't appreciate them trying to interfere in your affairs.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something. You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense. You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

It's official. I am on my way to becoming a therapist. Yesterday was the big, infamous, Internship Fair at my school. We spent half the morning getting little snippets of information about what internship is and isn't, the site and site supervisor requirements, and, most importantly, the MOUNDS of paperwork we will be required to complete as part of our internship duties.

After lunch was the official "fair" part of the day. There were 18 agencies in 2 rooms and all 60 of us students spent a few hours walking around and talking to all the different sites. It was crazy and exhausting, but good. This is the step I've been working towards for 3 years. And it is good to take it a step at a time. Step 1 was the intern fair. Check. Step 2 is the interviews. Partially checked. I've got 2 under my belt already, and I have another one today. I'll also be making some phone calls to set up a few more. Internships for LPCs and LMFTs are pretty competitive around here, so you have to hit the ground running and give it all you've got. Thankfully I've got YEARS of experience doing the interview thing! I'm hoping that will come in handy.

After that I'll just be praying for a site. Actually, I usually try to live with the philosophy that I will end up where I am supposed to be. It might take a little up front effort on my part, but I know I will get the spot that is meant for me. Then, I can start worrying about the actual internship! I've been in the classroom for 3 years - now I've actually got to act like a real therapist and put all this learning to work!

In honor of positive thinking, I created the graphic at the top of this post. My friend got me a cute wall hanging with this thought on it and it has been resonating with me these last few days. This is it folks. I can't wait around for life to happen to me. I've got to get my butt off the chair and create my life, my internship, my experience. I'm borrowing from Kal Barteski today, looking for some get up and GO!!
Happy Wednesday friends - here's to positive mental health and go-ness!!

Great news for Oregon!

Last night a judge finally (finally!) granted gay and lesbian couples in Oregon the right to apply for Domestic Partnership. What a huge (and long time coming) step for our state. Still, I'm amazed at the people who want to appeal the decision. Seriously folks, what do you have against people being happy? And having insurance? And rights to their children? Seriously?!!

I'm telling you folks, someday, when the monkeys take over and humans lose all their rights, some people are going to finally undertand how it feels. I'm just saying...

Wow - I am overwhelmed with the response to my "Name this photo" contest -2 whole people responded!!! Hehe - that really cracks me up.

Both responses were exceptional (duh, they were thought up by exceptional people!) but I had to choose my friend Indy as the official winner - it got automatic funny points just cause it is so stinking long! Here it is...

"While you are distracted by me in the tub, a team of
trained professionals are in your back yard digging my pool."

Scrappin' Clocks

I also had to post this cute clock I made for a friend. I've done two other bigger clocks too, but forgot to take pictures. I'll get some and then post them. I tell you, I'm totally addicted to scrappin' clocks!

Cuteness Personified

Yup - that's my girl - so stinkin' cute it hurts sometimes! Hey, maybe I should have a photo naming contest like the Pioneer Woman does! That's assuming anyone actually reads this blog, huh?! Oh well, what the heck - let's do it! Please post your best idea for a name for this photo by 10:00 a.m. PST Saturday, and I'll pick a winner. I can't afford to send the winner a $500 gift certificate for anything, but I do promise to send you something fun and/or cute in the mail!

Back to the story...

Every morning, we give Sheridan a 10 minute, pre-wakeup, "warning." She is not usually a morning person, so having 10 minutes to start waking up before we begin demanding things from her (like getting dressed and eating breakfast) seems to work out best for everyone involved. Despite this wake up time, every now and then Sheridan likes to hide under her bed, or jump in Mom and Dad's bed, or cozy up on the couch in lieu of putting her clothes on.

This morning I went to her room to advise her that her 10 minutes were up. Lo and behold, she was not anywhere in her room. After taking a deep, calming, "I'm not going to scream at my child" breath, I steeled myself for battle and began to check all the places she might be hiding. Not under her bed, not in her closet, not in my bed. Hmmmm.... Last stop, the family room couch.

I walked downstairs, and as I turned the corner into the kitchen I found my daughter - completely dressed... packing her own lunch... with a big grin on her face... She turns to me and say, "Hi Mom, I've packed two cookies (for afteroon snack, Mom) and cut myself some cheese. Could you please cut up some apple slices for me, please?"

Sometimes, when I least expect it, this girl just takes me by surprise. As I said to her, "who are you and what have you done to my daughter?" She laughed.

So, thanks Sheridan, for a great start to Friday! You are full of cute inside and out!
